Pub landlord fined for fire safety breaches 02/03/2010

A former pub landlord has been ordered to pay £16,015 in fines and costs after pleading guilty to breaches of fire safety legislation. Bhupinder Singh Mann was found guilty of 16 contraventions of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 at Isleworth Court, on Friday 26 February. It comes after an investigation into conditions at The Star, a pub that Mann ran in Hillingdon, London.   more info

Landlords pay £16,000 for breach of prohibition notice 22/02/2010

Ralph Ricardo and Alistair Gordon of Sarum Homes Ltd pleaded guilty to the breach of the notice served under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 at Yeovil Magistrates Court, and asked for a similar offence to be taken into consideration on another property. They were sentenced at Taunton Crown Court on 12 February.   more info

Care home owners told of safety failures before fatal fire 17/02/2010

The owners of a care home where 14 residents died in a fire were told almost a year before the tragedy that they did not have a "suitable and sufficient" health and safety policy in place, an inquiry heard yesterday. more info
