Pub company fined £15,000 in fire safety prosecution 12/02/2010

A pub management company has been convicted of offences under fire safety law following a hearing at North Wiltshire Magistrates' Court on Tuesday. Publicana Ltd was fined £15,000 for the offences under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and was ordered to pay the prosecution's costs.  more info

Landlord of ‘deathtrap’ in Hereford loses court fines appeal 12/02/2010

A Hereford landlord could be forced to sell one of his homes after letting students sleep in a "deathtrap". Marc Mohan, of Church Way, Holmer, failed to provide the most basic fire safety precautions at his Aylestone Hill property. Mohan, aged 47, was ordered to pay more than £30,000 in March 2009 after admitting breaking fire and safety regulations. more info

No risk assessment before Fire Service College blaze 21/01/2010

The Fire Service College had not carried out a fire risk assessment under the Fire Safety Order at the time of last year's fire which destroyed 11 fire engines and the appliance bay they were kept in. more info
