Shell fined record sum for fire safety breaches 02/06/2009

Shell International Ltd. was fined £300,000 and ordered to pay £45,000 in costs after pleading guilty to serious breaches of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (the "RRO"). This fine is the largest imposed under the RRO. The London Fire Brigade prosecuted Shell following two small fires in the space of three weeks at the Shell Centre on York Road, SE1 7NA. These fires resulted in an inspection being carried out on 12 January 2007. more info

Restaurant pleads guilty to breaches of fire safety regulations 20/05/2009

A restaurant owner and a company which she was the director of have been ordered to pay nearly £17,000 in fines and costs after pleading guilty to serious breaches of fire safety legislation following a prosecution brought by the London Fire Brigade. Linda Sade and Solly's Restaurant Limited were prosecuted following a fire at the premises on 24 September 2007. more info

Tragedy avoided at serious house fire 02/05/2009

A tragedy was avoided at a house fire on Saturday 2nd May as Fire-fighters responded to a call at The Twinings, Greenmeadow, Cwmbran at 02:21. On arrival, fire crews saw several neighbors outside the house a male in his 60's attempting to rescue children from the first floor window rear of the property using his own ladder. more info
