Wirral Nightclub Fined £4000 01/06/2008

The manager of a Wirral nightclub must pay £4000 after he admitted two breaches of fire safety law under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Birkenhead Magistrates Court ordered Lee Owen of Wallasey to pay £2000 each in fines and costs after he failed to get works done to the Hotel California in New Chester Road in Birkenhead.   more info

White Swan, Arundel, Fined £25,000 for Serious Breaches of Fire Safety Regulations 09/05/2008

A fire at The White Swan hotel, near Arundel, in March 2007, left ten guests trapped in their bedrooms. Although the guests were eventually rescued by firefighters the hotel's former management company Mill House Inns Trading Ltd., were fined £25,000 plus £11,000 costs after pleading guilty to serious breaches of fire safety laws. more info

Supermarket feels the heat over fire safety record 01/09/2007

Co-op bosses have been fined £250,000 for flouting fire safety regulations. The lives of staff and customers were put at risk because of breaches at six stores, a court heard yesterday. A catalogue of faults was uncovered at the chain's outlets in Brighton, Saltdean, Seaford, Polegate, Forest Row and St Leonards.   more info
