Who are we and why do we care?

Established over 30 years ago by our Managing Director, Martin Young with his view of working with our clients to provide a long-standing relationship, focusing on transparency and delivery excellence, we are still committed to Martin’s ethos today.

Working within the NHS, Local Authorities and Housing Associations for a number of years having given us the opportunity to work on larger and more complexed developments but never deviate from our mission statement of providing excellence at every stage.

Being a long time member of FIRAS and sharing their ethics on quality and compliance have meant that we have full auditable works via their portal, which again demonstrates our commitment to delivery and quality.

Our staff is our strength and our commitment to helping them become the best that they can be, through regular training and support remains one of Martin’s core values.

Fire Door Inspections

Regular fire door inspections are crucial for safety and compliance with UK regulations. Inspections are recommended every six months for standard buildings, more frequently for higher-risk buildings. The Fire Safety Order 2005 and the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 require proper maintenance of fire doors. Standards like BS 8214:2016 guide installation and maintenance, while BS 476 Part 22 and BS EN 1634-1 specify fire resistance ratings. Adhering to these ensures fire doors protect lives and property effectively.

Fire Stopping – Penetration Sealing

Fire stopping is vital for preventing fire, smoke, and heat spread. It ensures the integrity of fire-rated walls and floors, enhancing safety. UK regulations like the Building Regulations 2010 and standards such as BS 476-20:1987 and BS 9999:2017 guide effective fire stopping measures. Compliance is crucial for safeguarding occupants and property.

Active Fire Protection

Active fire protection systems like alarms and sprinklers are essential for safety. Regular maintenance ensures their reliability. Standards such as BS 5839-1:2013 for alarms and BS 5306-3:2017 for extinguishers guide proper maintenance. Compliance with these standards enhances safety and legal compliance. Third-party certifications like BAFE ensure professional servicing.

Installation and Remediation of Fire Doors

Proper installation and remediation of fire doors are key for safety. Fire doors must have appropriate ratings (e.g., FD30, FD60) and correct fitting. Standards like BS 8214:2016 and BS 476-22:1987 provide guidelines. Regular inspections and maintenance are essential to ensure effectiveness and legal compliance.
